It was my birthday yesterday and fun celebrating in Buenos Aires with my fellow Social Sabbatical friends. As it was a Saturday we could do some things together as a whole SAP team. To start the day we went to a charity called Fundacion Si along with some of our SAP Argentina colleagues to help cook food for the homeless (www.fundacionsi.org.ar). We learnt to make empanadas which was fun and made with love knowing they would be handed out to the homeless that night. |
Recoleta We then went and did some tourist things. We visited Recoleta cemetery where Eva Peron is buried, it was a beautiful tranquil place. Interesting that all the dead are buried above ground in mausoleums. Recoleta is without a doubt where the rich were buried as evidenced by the marble, stone, ornate carvings and statues on these mausoleums. |
El Ateneo
You have to check out this bookstore, rated 2nd best in the world by The Guardian, El Ateneo, google some images of its interior as my photos dont do it justice. Having retained its original frescoed ceilings, ornate theater boxes, elegant rounded balconies, detailed trimmings, and plush red stage curtains, the interior of the building remains as stunning today as when it was first envisioned by architects Peró and Torres Armengol.

Don Julio
The team took me out to dinner to Don Julio which is rated among the top50 best Latin American restaurants. It’s a steakhouse (what isn’t in argentina) and the meat was lovely. We didn’t get back home till 2am, I am certainly living on Argentina local time! I hope you are enjoying my blog
